Dong Bei Dumplings,Binondo

Nag detour after visita iglesia on Holy Thursday para careerin ang much blogged about DONG BEI DUMPLINGS sa pusod ng Binondo. Matagal na akong kyurius sa hole in da wall na restong ito pero dahil sa masikip na daan sa binondo, wiz ko efortin ito on a regular day. kaya nung mapadpad kami sa Binondo church while on visita iglesia adventure, pinasya na namin na i karir na hanapin ito (kasi nga much bogged about).

hmm, hmmm... di naman extra ordinary na worth ng effort to adventure.. maybe kung andun ka na sa area, pwede na pantawid gutom, but really, i can get better dumplings sa gloria maris or  wan chai or even the default wai ying. which reminds me, may wai ying pala sa loob ng binondo. dapat duon na lang ako ng lunch.

for everyhting, we paid P350, plus drinks na yun. in ferness, freshly made naman ang mga dumplings.

Nic's Gourmet Dessert

Kinarir ang paghanap sa dessert place na ito in the middle of San JUAn City. After magpaikot-ikot sa addition hills at wherever, natagpuan namin ang object of our search na katabi ng isang factory or talyer or whatever industrial place iyon. hindi sya talaga pansinin so goodluck na lang sa mga walk-in customers.

dry na ang red velvet na ito. but the brownie cake was very good.

For the gas na naubos namin just to find this place, and for getting just two out of four na okay na dessert, i can forego this one. Madami naman iba dessert place to to go.

Orchard Road Restaurant, SM Megamall

For some strange reason, napadpad ako sa SM Megamall. Ang mall na sinumpa ko na na di ko papasukin ever.

At dahil dinner time na, dito na lang ako humanap ng makakainan at napadpad  sa Orchard Road, Mega Mall edition.

Lahat ng inorder ko sa kanilang menu wala. Walang char kwey tow noodles or chicken satay. Hay nako, it should be a sign for me na pag wala ang gusto kong kainin, mag walk out na lang...

So I settled for these..

Chicken Rice

 Mas masarap pa ang tinola ni inay. Nakakalungkot ito ng sinerve sa akin. Malamig na ang kanin, at mukang powdered cubes ang shicen soup.

Hokien Mee

 Anemic looking ang pansit at laang may MSG.

Shrimp Dumplings

this was served with extra hair, yes, buhok ng tao. i didn't bother to call their attention dahil haller, madidisappoint lang ako.

at oo nga pala, i tried to order bottled water. out of stock daw sila. Hahaha, my gash, they are located inside a Mall na may dalawang grocery, tapos out of stock?!

Himala, the 10th Anniversary Concert

Excited to herd my friends to the theater dahil sa re-staging ng Himala. Actually, hindi ito full play but just the music from the play since 10th year anniversary na daw. So, advance payment ng limang tickets for orchestra, middle.

But then....

I love Vince de Jesus and his music, so may expectationS ako for this one. could it be the execution? the small stage?

Maybe I've been into too many musicals..zsazsa zaturnah particularly. Nakita ko ang taong bayan ng zsazsa zaturnah again, now inhabiting Bario Cupang. dala dala pa rin nila ang kanilang zombie tendencies sa patuloy na pag dikit kay Elsa saan man sya magpunta. Are they after her brain? pati ang soloistang palaka ay andun din.

Hindi epektib si May Bayot for me as Elsa, hindi ko alam kung dahil ba may pre programmed nang Elsa sa utak ko or because tumataas ang kilay nya habang kumakanta? i cannot feel for her.

Chayong is more believable, pero operatic ang dating nya sa mga kanta. Lab ko ang song nyang "Sabay sa Ihip ng Hangin" kaso ang down side naman ay masyadong bata ang pinartner sa kanya.

Isay Alvarez as Nimia delivers pero I see Gigi dancing on the stage taking over her persona. Bravo sa duet nila ni Dulce. Bakit ang payat at seksi pa rin ni Isay? Bagay sa kanya ang kanyang sleeveless maong blouse.

The most consistent performer for the night, Dulce. There are times that she tones down her voice para lang hindi masapawan ang star. Palakpakan talaga sa dueto nila ni Isay, did I say that before? After the show, I personally approached her to voice out my appreciation. Very down to earth ang lola and appreciative of fans like me.

And OJ Mariano? kelan pa naging central character and story teller si Orly sa palabas na ito? Feeling MArk Cohen lang? No, no, and no. Mariano slid down again in my standards. Ok na sana sya from Rama Hari staging.

But I do love love love the music. Sayang I forgot to buy the CD paglabas namin, kasi naman, na excite na naman ako pa picutres sa mga personalities that night which included National Artist Bien Lumbera and Ricky Lee. fan lang talaga.

Chez Karine

Matagal na ako in search for the best macarons. ewan ko ba feeling parisian minsan..

I've been hearing about this place sa Serendra, bago daw at trained overseas ang chef. Been reading good reviews about it sa blogosphere. ang gaganda rin ng pictures ng place.

last saturday nag day-off kami ni mudra at nagpunta ng Taguig. Finally, naka attack din ako sa Chez Karine.

P50.00 per macarons. A small box will set you back ng P350.00

this is the smallest box. Flavors are: dark chocolate, mint chocolate, peanut butter and cappuchino

mango panacotta (P100.00) (pwede na wag tikman ito)

verdict? nothing to be excited about. masarap naman specially the earl grey macaron since hindi naman regular flavor yun ng macaron. consistency wise, it was better than the others that i've tried. small lang place at hindi mashado helpful ang staff. parang ayaw magbenta.
